The battle of Roslin saw more than 20,000 loose their lives when the Scots defeated the English armies, it's believed that of the 30,000 English soldiers who entered the battlefield, less than 2,000 survived.

The ancient coin spill is currently being evaluated by the National museum of Scotland, current estimates put the coins dates around the time of King Edward I who reigned from 1271-1307. Experts believe the coins may have been used to pay mercenaries during the epic battle.

The coins which were found earlier this year were discovered alongside some ancient pottery and have yet to be appraised, we expect them to fetch a pretty penny though! From the images posted online, it seems the dectorist who hit this jackpot was swinging a Garrett ACE 400, a great entry level machine that can find just as well as some of our more expensive units!
