The massive gold nugget was found by a hobbyist in then western Australia region known for its large gold fields and masses of unexplored outback and desert. Although the nugget was found almost a month ago now, only last week was it reported, with a value of close to $70,000 USD, we're not surprised the treasure hunter wanted to keep it a secret!
It's not unusual for detectorists to find small gold deposits all over this region, but finds like this are rare and only happen a few times a year.

News broke over the weekend of some school children in northern Israel finding an incredibly rare gold coin in a stream. The coin, a solidus minted by the Emperor Theodosius II in Constantinople (now Istanbul) around 420 CE. Similar coins are known from the byzantine empire but this is the first of its type ever found in Isreal.
There was a famous gold coin dug up in England by a redditor last month with his trusted Minelab CTX 3030, Europe is rich with history and still plenty of gold to be found, especially with your metal detectors!

we've been seeing more news and testing demos of Fisher's latest machine, the all new Pulse detector for 2019, the Impulse AQ.
While pulse metal detectors have been around for some time now, they have always have issues with discrimination. Fisher seem to have solved this issue with the Impulse AQ as early prototype tests seem to be getting great reviews over in Russia. The technology has been refined by the Bulgarians and we expect to see this metal detector materialize sometime before the end of 2019. it's currently in prototype and testing stage and all the signs are this new tech is very promising!
Then Minelab Equinox 800 and Equinox 600 can be VERY successful on silver caches or stacks of silver coins if setup up correctly. A few quick tips below from Minelab and a video will get you out in the field armed for success!
Minelab Suggests Using Park 1 for your base. Do a factory reset by holding the power button down till you see FP on the screen to be sure you have everything on your Equinox set right.
Next set the Frequency to Multi IQ
Recovery speed set to 1
Iron Bias 0
Sensitivity set as high as possible without excessive chatter and feedback from the ground.
