Turn Your Manticore Into a Deep-Seeking Beast
The M8 is a killer coil for tight spots, trash, and separation. But when it’s time to cover ground and go after the deeper keepers, the Minelab M15 (15" x 12") is the coil I recommend for wide-open fields, beaches, and “hunted out” sites where the easy targets are long gone.
Why the M15 Coil Works So Well
- More ground coverage per swing: You sweep a larger area with every pass, which helps you grid faster and miss fewer targets between swipes.
- More depth potential on coin-sized targets: In the right ground, the larger footprint can give you more punch on deeper coins, relics, and “one more inch” targets.
- Built for open areas: This is the coil that shines on beaches, farm fields, pasture, and big, clean spaces where you want to move and cover ground efficiently.
And yes—despite the size, Minelab did a solid job with the balance. If you’re chasing the deeper silver and older targets that other people walked right over, the M15 is a smart upgrade.
Best Places to Run the M15
- Beaches: Cover more sand, faster, with excellent depth potential.
- Large fields & open parks: Bigger coil = more efficient gridding.
- Older / “hunted out” sites: Great for slowing down and pulling deeper targets others missed.

FAQ – Minelab Manticore M15 Coil
Is the M15 coil deeper than the stock M11 coil?
In many situations, the M15 can give you more depth potential—especially in cleaner ground where the larger coil can “see” targets better. In heavy trash, the stock coil (or the M8) can still be the better choice for separation.
Is the M15 coil good for the beach and or deep relics and coins?
Yes. The M15 is one of the best choices for beach hunting because it covers more ground per sweep and can hit deep targets in open sand. VERY good for just out of reach deep coins and jewelry out in open Fields and when hunting relics!
Will the M15 work in iron and trash?
It can, but bigger coils generally do best where targets are more spread out. If your sites are packed with nails and modern trash, you may prefer the M8 (or the stock coil) for tighter separation.
Is the M15 waterproof?
The coil is waterproof up to 5 meters / 16 feet. Always follow Minelab’s guidelines for your detector setup.
What detector does the M15 coil fit?
The Minelab M15 coil is compatible only with the Minelab Manticore.
