XP Stereo Wireless Headphones – WSA-ST, WSA-XL ST & WS6-ST

Regular price $149.00
Sale price $149.00 Regular price

XP’s ST wireless headphone range provides three different ways to hear the newer stereo audio system available through compatible XP detector software. Choose the lightweight WSA-ST, the full-size WSA-XL ST, or the more advanced WS6-ST with its own removable screen and detector controls.

All three models use XP’s fast proprietary wireless connection and USB-C charging, but they do not perform the same functions. The WSA-ST and WSA-XL ST are audio headphones that require a compatible master controller. The WS6-ST can also serve as a DEUS II controller.

What Does XP Stereo Audio Do?

XP’s updated audio system can process and deliver information through separate left and right audio channels. Compatible programs and audio types can use those channels to provide a wider and more detailed presentation than the earlier mono headphone system.

Stereo headphones do not independently identify a target or increase the detector’s raw detection depth. Their value is in how the detector’s audio information is presented to the operator. Familiarity with the selected audio type and detector settings still determines how useful those additional sound cues become.

XP’s Fast Wireless Connection

These headphones do not rely on ordinary consumer Bluetooth. XP uses its proprietary wireless protocol to transmit detector audio with extremely low delay. XP states that its wireless communication is approximately ten times faster than typical low-latency Bluetooth.

Reduced delay helps keep the audio response closely aligned with the coil’s position as it passes over a target.

WSA-ST Compact Stereo Headphones

The WSA-ST is the simplest and lightest choice on this page. It weighs approximately 72 grams and folds for storage. The behind-the-neck design keeps the ears less enclosed than a full-size headset.

The WSA-ST is an audio receiver—it does not contain a target display or operate a coil independently. It must be paired with a compatible DEUS II or ICON/ICON-X remote, WS6 Master or WS6-ST Master.

WSA-ST Highlights

  • Compact, foldable behind-the-neck design
  • Approximately 72 grams
  • Stereo sound
  • Rainproof construction
  • Ten adjustable volume levels
  • Four-band equalizer controlled through the master device
  • Automatic power on and off after pairing
  • Five-minute automatic shutoff when no controller is detected
  • USB-C charging in approximately two hours
  • Detachable module for frame replacement or an optional wired-headphone adapter
  • XP five-year warranty

WSA-XL ST Full-Size Stereo Headphones

The WSA-XL ST uses a full-size over-ear design. It is the better choice for customers who want greater ear coverage and less interference from wind, surf, traffic, machinery or other surrounding noise.

Like the compact WSA-ST, the WSA-XL ST is an audio receiver rather than a detector controller. It requires a compatible DEUS II remote, WS6 Master or WS6-ST Master.

WSA-XL ST Highlights

  • Full-size over-ear stereo design
  • Approximately 250 grams
  • Foldable for transport
  • Ten adjustable volume levels
  • Four-band equalizer through the master controller
  • Automatic power on and off after pairing
  • USB-C charging in approximately two hours
  • IP68 tested to one meter for rain, waves and accidental drops
  • Not designed for underwater detecting or diving
  • XP five-year warranty

WS6-ST Stereo Headphones and Master Controller

The WS6-ST is different from the other two models because its removable module contains a screen and detector controls. It can operate as wireless headphones under the full DEUS II remote or become the main controller in a lightweight DEUS II Master configuration.

Three WS6-ST Configurations

  1. Headphones under the full DEUS II remote: The full remote controls the coil and detector settings while the WS6-ST supplies wireless stereo audio.
  2. WS6-ST Master with separate headphones: Remove the module and carry it in a pocket or place it on the stem. The WS6-ST controls the DEUS II coil while WSA-ST or WSA-XL ST headphones provide the audio.
  3. WS6-ST Master on its backphone frame: Leave the module attached to the supplied frame so it controls the coil and supplies audio without the full remote.

WS6-ST Highlights

  • Stereo wireless sound
  • Removable screen and control module
  • Approximately 82 grams
  • 64 × 64-pixel display
  • Target identification display
  • Headphone and search-coil battery information
  • Ten available coil-registration slots
  • Wireless MI-6 pinpointer connection
  • Approximately 15-hour battery life
  • USB-C charging in less than three hours
  • XP five-year warranty

Software and Pairing Requirements

The new stereo audio functions require compatible XP software. Update the DEUS II remote, WS6 or WS6-ST module and compatible wireless headphones before attempting to pair the system.

Important: XP instructs owners to keep the remote and wireless headphones on matching compatible software versions. Components using different versions may not connect or function properly.

Use the correct XP updater selection for the component being updated. WSA-ST and WSA-XL ST use the applicable ST-headphone updater selection. Save important custom settings before updating because software updates can reset stored configurations.

XP Stereo Headphone Frequently Asked Questions

Which model is the lightest?

The WSA-ST is the lightest at approximately 72 grams. The WS6-ST weighs approximately 82 grams, while the full-size WSA-XL ST weighs approximately 250 grams.

Can the WSA-ST control my detector?

No. The WSA-ST supplies wireless audio but requires a compatible DEUS II or ICON/ICON-X remote, WS6 Master or WS6-ST Master to control the detector.

Can the WSA-XL ST control my detector?

No. It is a full-size audio headset and requires a compatible master controller.

Can the WS6-ST replace the full DEUS II remote?

Yes. In a WS6-ST Master configuration, its removable module can pair directly with a compatible DEUS II FMF coil, display target information and control the detector without the full remote.

Do these headphones use Bluetooth?

No. They use XP’s proprietary fast wireless protocol, which is designed to keep the audio response closely synchronized with the coil’s position.

Are these headphones waterproof?

They are intended for rain and detecting weather, not underwater audio. The WSA-XL ST has been IP68 tested to one meter as proof of weather resistance, but XP states that it is not designed for diving.

Do they use USB-C charging?

Yes. All three ST models use USB-C charging rather than the older XP multi-charging connection.

Do I need to update my detector?

Yes. Update the controller and compatible wireless headphones to matching XP software versions before pairing and using the stereo functions.

Which model is best for windy beaches?

The full-size WSA-XL ST generally provides the most ear coverage and isolation from wind, surf and surrounding noise. It is not intended for underwater detecting.
