The Nokta LD38 is the largest search coil made for the Nokta Legend 2 metal detector. Its 15 × 12-inch Double-D design covers substantially more ground with each sweep than the smaller LD-series coils, making it a valuable accessory for searching large, relatively open locations.

The LD38 is intended for hunters who prioritize coverage and response on larger or deeper targets. It is particularly well suited to farm fields, pasture, open beaches and expansive relic sites where brush, playground equipment and closely spaced modern trash are not the main obstacles.

Where the LD38 Works Best

What a Larger Search Coil Changes

A larger coil places more ground beneath the detection field during each sweep. That can help you cover spacious hunting sites more quickly and may improve detection of larger targets at depth when soil conditions, detector settings and target orientation are favorable.

The tradeoff is maneuverability. The LD38 is not the best choice for heavy brush, tight spaces or locations filled with closely spaced targets. In those environments, the smaller LD21 or LD22 can provide easier control and more precise target separation.

LD38 Versus the Standard LD28 Coil

The 11-inch LD28 included with the Legend 2 is the better all-around coil for changing terrain and mixed hunting conditions. Choose the larger LD38 when you regularly hunt open ground and want broader coverage. Keep the LD28 for locations where lower weight, easier maneuvering and better handling around obstacles are more important.
