At Minelab, we get your passion. And like you, we never leave any stone unturned. It’s that same grit and determination that drives us to make every product and every innovation just that much better.
What is new?
Difficult ferrous targets — the common enemy for all detectorists. That is until EQUINOX. Hit the download on our EQUINOX update to make those pesky bottle caps, rusty nails and other falsing targets a thing of the past. Fire up the Minelab Update Utility and you’re on your way. It’s simple. You’ll experience the enhanced Iron Bias feature, improved EQUINOX 600 backlight and much more.
Improved Iron Bias
Iron Bias has been enhanced with the addition of a new Iron Bias settings profile. The original EQUINOX Iron Bias 'FE' settings will still be available, but there is now the option to switch to the new Iron Bias 'F2' settings, which have an improved capability to reject a much wider range of difficult iron targets, including bottle caps.
EQUINOX 600 Backlight Brightness
The EQUINOX 600 now has the ability to adjust the backlight brightness to an additional 'Low' setting that matches the minimum setting on the EQUINOX 800. This 'Low' brightness is ideal for detecting at night and in low light conditions.

Update on shipping and Nokta Makro Simplex Metal Detector now with Auto and manual ground balance!
Based on feedbacks received from our Nokta Makro customers at many events from users as well as customers reaching out to us through forums and emails, we (Nokta Makro) decided to incorporate both auto and manual ground balancing to the device. The Field and Park modes still can be used without ground balancing in many areas but for experienced users and tough conditions, ground balancing can now be done automatically as well as manually.
This has been the major update on the device along with some other minor changes.
We apologize for the delay but at the end of the day Simplex+ just became more powerful than it was before. Thank you for your understanding.
Carbon-fiber Rods and Shafts from Steve’s Detector Rods now available at BBH!
Carbon-fiber Rods and Shafts from Steve’s Detector Rods now available at BBH!
Big Boys Hobbies is pleased to announce that high-quality carbon-fiber rods and shafts from Steve’s Detector Rods are now available here, through BBH! “Steve’s” offers 100% carbon-fiber lower rods for Minelab’s CTX 3030 and Equinox series detectors, as well as complete carbon-fiber shaft systems for the Equinox 600/800.
Steve’s rods and shafts are constructed of top-quality, high-strength, lightweight 3K carbon-fiber tubes, and durable, engineering-grade plastic components, and are individually hand-assembled in the USA, using specially formulated, high-tech epoxies and adhesives.
The CTX 3030 and Equinox lower rods come in standard lengths of 32” and 26”, respectively, and are available in custom lengths, upon request. Both rods include rubber washers; the CTX 3030 rod includes a short length of protective cable wrap to eliminate any potential for wear on the coil cable sheath where the cable enters the lower rod, while the Equinox lower rod includes a stainless-steel spring button for compatibility with the stock Minelab shaft.
Steve’s upper shaft for the Equinox is 35 ½” long, is nearly 30% lighter than the stock shaft, and includes 4 cuff-adjustment holes and 1 control-box handle hole (with the holes in the same positions as on the stock shaft), along with a rubber end cap. With the elimination of the twist-lock joint which connects the upper and middle sections of the stock shaft, Steve’s one-pie e upper shaft yields a lightweight, durable, wobble-free alternative, which substantially upgrades the fit and feel of the unit.
The upper shaft also features a heavy-duty clamp-type cam lock, with clamping tension adjustable as necessary via a convenient thumb screw. The thumb screw, along with the clamping lever pivot axle and the cam lock’s attachment screw, are all made of corrosion-resistant stainless steel (with the attachment screw providing easy removal of the cam lock, should replacement ever be necessary).
As a result of its superior clamping strength, Steve’s cam lock also permits elimination of the spring button holes in the shaft. With lower rod adjustment lengths therefore not limited to specific button-hole locations, easy and unlimited lower-rod adjustment length can be made by simply flipping open the clamping lever on the cam lock, sliding the lower rod to your desired position, and the closing the clamp – yielding fast, easy, and rock-solid attachment of the lower rod to the upper shaft.
When the upper shaft is paired with one of Steve’s Equinox lower rods, the result is a complete replacement of the stock shaft -- that features the aesthetic appeal of carbon fiber, in a superior-strength, lightweight, wobble-free shaft system for your Minelab Equinox 600/800.
If you would like to learn more about Steve’s carbon-fiber rods and shafts, please don’t hesitate to contact us! Bart@bigboyshobbies.net or call at 405-206-9010

30 WWII GERMAN PISTOLS FOUND AFTER STORM BY BEACHCOMBER
Ever been walking along the beach and found a gun? This is what happened to a German man in the baltic sea. Alexander Ladwig was with his father and his dog walking along the beach near the town of Wabbs in Schleswig-Holstein and found a box containing 30 German handguns used in WW II. He gathered up all the 30 guns in the box and alerted authorities of the find. Sadly the government took them from him.
In the pictures below you will see what looks to be several Browning high power 9 MM, Astra pistols and Walter P-38s. All of these were very common guns used by the Germans in WWII. The government that relieved him of his finds confirmed they came from Wehrmacht stocks.
Have you ever found a gun while metal detecting? If so did you turn it in? If I were Mr Alexander Ludwig I would be going back to that area with my metal detector!
