  1. Detectorist Unearths Ancient Trove of Coins from a Battle Site in Europe!

    45 year old Jaroslaw Musialkowski, and his brother Marcin discovered 200 coins whilst detecting at an undisclosed location on the site of the Battle of Roslin. The massive haul of over 44 ancient coins was found after a third visit to the site.

    The battle of Roslin saw more than 20,000 loose their lives when the Scots defeated the English armies, it's believed that of the 30,000 English soldiers who entered the battlefield, less than 2,000 survived.

    The ancient coin spill is currently being evaluated by the National museum of Scotland, current estimates put the coins dates around the time of King Edward I who reigned from 1271-1307. Experts believe the coins may have been used to pay mercenaries during the epic battle.

  2. Need another reason to get out and detect today? How about the 1894-S Barber Dime that just sold for $1.3M!

    A Businessman in Utah just paid a whopping $1.32 million dollars for the Dime at auction last week. Apparently this dime was one of only 24 that were ever made. The proud new owner is a coin collector working to complete his collection of every coin minted from 1792 to present.

    The coins were struck at the San Francisco Mint on June 9, 1894, the Professional Coin Grading Service said in a statement. The service certified the coin's condition and authenticity.

    The dime once belonged to Jerry Buss, the late owner of the NBA's Los Angeles Lakers. It last went up for auction in 1988.
