We've heard from the community about the difficulties surrounding the Simplex software update process. Here's How to do it:

1 - Visit https://www.noktadetectors.com/metal-detector/simplex-metal-detector/ - on the left hand menu, click the "Software Update" Tab to locate the download link, click the red link to get the latest software version and download it. (enc-simplex-system-2v76.zip as of the time of this post)
2 - Once the file has been downloaded, extract the files from the zip onto your desktop
3 - Run the DetectorUpdateSetup.exe file from your desktop, install the update tool software, a new desktop icon will be created
4- Run the "Nokta Detector Update Tool" from your desktop "Select Simplex from the drop down menu and proceed with the following instructions on screen.

A Captivating story coming out of England where a detectorist has dug an incredible gold ring with a huge sapphire stone from the fabled Sherwood Forrest, the old home of Robin hood and his band of thieves. The ring was discovered in Nottinghamshire by Mark Thompson who found the ring after just 20 minutes into his session. What makes the ring so unique is the size of the stone, probably worn by a high ranking member of the church of England, possibly a Bishop.

Mr Thompson said at the time: "I had been out metal detecting with a group for about 20 minutes when I heard the signal.

“I was really excited when I saw that it was gold, but I didn't realise at that point just how significant it might be."

As we've seen over the last several months, the majority of metal detector manufacturers have shifted focus towards more aggressively priced entry level machines. Every year around this time, many parents rejoice at the prospect of a bit of peace and quiet while their little ones head off back to school. For metal detectorists, back to school is usualy the green light to get out and start hunting those once packed parks and beaches!

As many of you know, September usually brings in some cooler weather and even a bit of much needed rain, if you've ever tried to detect on fields during the summer, you know how much of a challenge digging in dry dirt can be. Back to school time is the perfect opportunity to get into metal detecting if you've been considering it as a hobby, almost all of the parks that have been bustling during the summer vacation months will be deserted, leaving you all alone to dig up any treasures that may have been left behind.

45 year old Jaroslaw Musialkowski, and his brother Marcin discovered 200 coins whilst detecting at an undisclosed location on the site of the Battle of Roslin. The massive haul of over 44 ancient coins was found after a third visit to the site.

The battle of Roslin saw more than 20,000 loose their lives when the Scots defeated the English armies, it's believed that of the 30,000 English soldiers who entered the battlefield, less than 2,000 survived.

The ancient coin spill is currently being evaluated by the National museum of Scotland, current estimates put the coins dates around the time of King Edward I who reigned from 1271-1307. Experts believe the coins may have been used to pay mercenaries during the epic battle.

A Businessman in Utah just paid a whopping $1.32 million dollars for the Dime at auction last week. Apparently this dime was one of only 24 that were ever made. The proud new owner is a coin collector working to complete his collection of every coin minted from 1792 to present.

The coins were struck at the San Francisco Mint on June 9, 1894, the Professional Coin Grading Service said in a statement. The service certified the coin's condition and authenticity.

It's becoming a trend these days, this is the 2nd monster nugget we've reported on in almost as many months! This time from a metal detecting prospector and enthusiast from Ballarat in Victoria, AU.

Mr Day found the nugget after digging a small signal which turned out to be a bullet casing on an old farm pastureland. After digging the .22 bullet, the detector continued to give signal so he kept digging and unearthed the fist-sized monster about a meter deep.

Collectors from all over the world are already contacting Mr Day to purchase his find, gold nuggets this size are incredibly rare and hold much more value than their weight in gold to some collectors willing to pay a premium for a specimen this big.
